Ya know what another word for awkward is? Unique. Do you know what unique people do? They make a change. Think about someone who really made a difference in the world. Why did they make a difference? Because they saw something differently than others. They were just weird enough to see that something could be done differently. The reason they stick out from the rest of the crowd is they don’t fit in. They’re weird and awkward and different. Weird people change the world. Different people change the world. Unique people change the world.

Never discriminate against odd people. They’re incredible. God has gifted them with the ability to see things in a different way. That’s awesome. Odd people change things. If you open up to them, they might show you a different way to look at something. It just might change your life. The point of this is, don’t shun odd people. Talk to them. Get to know them. Take a look at things from their perspective. It might change your world.

If I painted a picture, and I painted each stroke with a purpose and a plan, if I put a world of thought into each brushstroke, wouldn’t I love that picture? Not because of what it would do for me, but simply because I made it. Wouldn’t I be proud of it? God made you. He made you with purpose and a plan for you to prosper. Matthew 9:12-13

“But when he heard, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. Go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Jesus reclined with the tax collectors and sinners because he came to the earth to save the lost. He didn’t come to “heal the healthy” he came to make sinners righteous, heal lepers, cast out demons.

We are called to be Christ-like. Being a Christian is fantasic, but it requires work. We have been commanded to “Go make disciples.” Not just hang out with our Christian friends where it’s comfortable.

It’s our job to spread the gospel throughout ALLnations. Black, white, Asian, nerds, jocks, weirdos, popular kids. Everyone.

Prayer of Nehemiah

In Nehemiah 1:4-11, Nehemiah cried out to God in sorrow for his nation that was lost. *side note. It’s time we start crying out to God for our nation that is lost*

Three Key Things Nehemiah Prays:

1. 1:5-“O Lord God of heaven, the great and awesome God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments.”

Here, Nehemiah states who God is. Awesome. Great. Lord of all. But he is also reminding himself that God keeps commandments and covenants with those who love him. *it is incredibly important that we don’t forget 1. Who God is. and 2. His promises.*

2. 1:6-“confessing the sins of the people of Israel.” “Even I and my father’s house have sinned.”

He understands that He is a sinner. He knows His faults and knows crying out to God is the only answer. When we begin to think of ourselves as higher than God, we lose the mentality that we need Him. We fall away from Him. *A correct perspective of who God is is the key to a life filled with Jesus.*

3. 1:8-“Remember the word that you commanded your servant Moses…”

God LOVES it when we pray Scripture back to Him. It’s His word! It’s what He gave us to live by! When we pray His promises back to Him, we are asking Him to fulfill them! Luke 11:9 says “Ask and you shall receive.” Ask for God to fulfill His promises over your life. Remind Him of what He’s said!

How many people go throughout the day just trying to be invisible? They’ve learned to hide their differences because, in today’s society, differences aren’t ok. Anytime they show just a glimpse of who they really are, people smack them down and call them weird. When are we going to start congratulating people for being different? When are we going to start seeing people as the gems they really are? With value beyond what we could ever imagine. When is the body of Christ going to step up and be an example to the world. Diffences? Uniqueness? Those are the things that make a person beautiful. God is love. Love with no exceptions. He loves the dirtiest heart just as much as he loves the innocent heart of a baby. It’s time His body starts doing the same.Love.
